种梨
一个农民拉着一车梨到市场上卖。梨又甜又香，他想卖个好价钱。
一个和尚走过来。他的帽子和衣服都破了。他想要一个梨，可是农民不肯给，还大声骂他。
和尚说：“你有这么多梨，我只要一个。为什么这么生气呢？”
旁边的人也劝农民给他一个小的。农民还是不答应。附近一家店里的人觉得太吵，就买了一个梨，送给和尚。
和尚谢了他，对大家说：“我也有好梨，请大家吃。”
有人问：“你有梨，为什么还向别人要？”
“我要先有一粒种子，才能种树。”
和尚吃完梨，留下种子。他用带来的工具在地上挖了一个小坑，把种子放进去，盖上土。然后，他请大家给他一点水。
有人从附近的店里拿来热水。和尚把水倒在土上。大家都看着那个地方。
很快，一棵小树长了出来。它越长越大，长出叶子，开了花，又长出许多又大又香的梨。
和尚爬上树，把梨摘下来，分给大家。大家很快就吃完了。
然后，他把树砍倒，放在肩上，慢慢走了。
农民也一直站在人群里看，忘了自己的梨。等和尚走了，他回头一看：车上的梨全没了！
他这才明白，大家吃的都是他的梨。他又发现，用来推车的木头把手少了一段。那里有刚砍过的痕迹。
农民生气地追过去。转过街角，他看见那段木头把手躺在城墙边。原来，和尚带走的“树”就是它！
可是和尚已经找不到了。市场上的人知道以后，都大笑起来。

A farmer brings a cart of sweet pears to market and hopes to sell them at a good price. A poorly dressed monk asks for one, but the farmer refuses and insults him. A nearby shopkeeper buys a pear to stop the argument.
After eating it, the monk plants a seed and asks for hot water. Before the crowd’s eyes, a tree grows, blossoms and produces ripe pears. The monk gives the fruit to everyone, cuts down the tree and carries it away.
The farmer has watched the performance with the others, forgetting his cart. When he turns back, all his pears are gone.
He realises that the fruit shared with the crowd was his own. Part of one of the cart’s wooden handles is also missing. Chasing the monk, he finds the missing piece near the city wall and understands that it was the supposed tree. The monk has disappeared, and the crowd laughs.
