O saco das nozes

Short story

Disse a verdade e perdeu o prémio.

After the service, he goes to the priest's house to claim the walnuts. The priest has heard about his behaviour at home and agrees that he should receive them. The man begins filling the sack he has brought.

However, the priest asks why the sack is not larger. The man explains that he wanted to bring a big one, but his wife said that would be shameful. She insisted that he bring a smaller sack instead.

The priest immediately takes back the walnuts and sends him away. By explaining his choice of sack, the man has shown that he did follow his wife's instructions.
