Chory kotek
Kot był chory i leżał w łóżku. Przyszedł do niego lekarz, też kot.
— Jak się czujesz? — zapytał.
— Bardzo źle.
Chory podał mu łapę. Lekarz zbadał go i powiedział:
— Za dużo jadłeś. I to nie myszy, ale szynkę i tłuste mięso. Masz gorączkę. Musisz długo leżeć w łóżku. Możesz jeść tylko bardzo lekkie jedzenie. Żadnej kiełbasy, tłustego mięsa ani ciasta!
— A mysz mogę? — zapytał kot. — Albo trochę małego ptaka?
— Nie. Musisz bardzo uważać na to, co jesz.
Kot leżał więc w łóżku. Kiełbasy zostały nietknięte, a zapach myszy dochodził z daleka. Za dużo zjadł, a teraz musiał odmawiać sobie jedzenia.

The cat has a fever and must stay in bed for a long time. He may eat only a simple, light gruel. Sausage, bacon and cake are forbidden. The patient asks whether he can have a mouse, or at least a few small bird legs. The doctor refuses: successful treatment requires a strict diet.
The cat remains in bed while the sausages are left untouched and he can smell mice from a distance. The narrator ends by warning children against overeating. The cat's excessive appetite has brought illness and forced him to give up the food he enjoys.
