« Sai fare proprio tutto!
English summary · includes the ending
One Sunday, the painter Giotto joins some friends for a walk to San Gallo in Florence. They stop in a street while he tells a story. Some pigs pass, and one runs between his legs so forcefully that he falls to the ground.
Giotto gets up with help from his companions and shakes himself. He does not curse the pigs or address them. Instead, he turns to his friends with a small smile. He says that the animals have good reason to treat him like this: he has earned a great deal of money with their stiff hair, used to make paintbrushes, but has never given them even a bowl of broth.
His friends laugh and praise his reply. They say he has described this scene with words better than he has ever painted one. The group then continues towards San Gallo. This adaptation covers the complete pig episode from Sacchetti's longer tale.
