Sian viisaus
English summary · includes the ending
A fox wants to be cleverer than everyone else. It makes a bet with a pig about which of them will first notice the sunrise next morning. The pig accepts without saying anything.
They settle for the night in a valley between two mountains. The fox faces the mountain behind which the sun will rise. It believes this position will help it win. The pig faces the mountain on the opposite side, which makes the fox laugh.
In the morning, the first rays of sunlight reach the top of the mountain the pig is watching. The pig gets up and announces that the sun is rising. The fox initially refuses to believe it. Then it turns and looks in the same direction as the pig. Seeing the sunlight on the opposite mountain, it has to admit, with shame, that the pig has won their bet.
