The Three Little Pigs

Short story

A mother pig had three little pigs. She did not have enough food for them, so she sent them away to find a new life.

The first pig asked a man for some straw and made a house with it. A wolf came and asked to come in. The pig said no. The wolf blew the house down and ate the pig.

The second pig got branches from bushes and made a house. The wolf came again. This pig also said no, but the wolf blew down the house and ate him too.

The third pig asked a man for bricks. He built a strong house. The wolf blew and blew, but the house did not fall down.

Then the wolf said, “There are vegetables in a field. Let’s get some tomorrow at six.”

The pig went at five. When the wolf came at six, the pig was already home with his food.

Next, the wolf said, “Let’s get apples tomorrow at five.”

The pig went at four. But the tree was far away, and he had to climb it. The wolf arrived while the pig was still there.

The pig threw an apple far away. The wolf went to get it, and the pig ran home.

Then the wolf invited him to a fair at three. Again, the pig went early. He bought a large round container for making butter. On his way home, he saw the wolf and hid inside the container. It rolled down a hill with him inside. The wolf was so afraid that he ran home.

Later, the wolf told the pig about the big round thing. “That was me!” said the pig.

The angry wolf said he would enter the house through the chimney. The pig put a pot of water on the fire. As the wolf came down, the pig took off the lid. The wolf fell into the hot water. The pig quickly put the lid back on, cooked the wolf and ate him for supper. After that, he lived happily.
